Eight questions with…Gabriele Odorico

Gabriele Odorico, aged 28 works as a travel consultant at our Rome Office in Italy. Gabriele can be described as a kind, humble person who always remains calm under pressure. It is a pleasure to have him figure in the latest Raptim’s 8 questions interview series.

“From the moment I joined Raptim I felt as part of the team.”

I am from a small city in the north east of Italy, between Venice and Trieste. Before joining Raptim I lived and worked there for a travel agency/tour operator. I decided to change something in my life, move to another city. So I started looking for a new adventure in wonderful Rome. When I saw the vacancy at Raptim I immediately applied. I still remember when general manager Paolo Tsimbirlis called me, I was on vacation having lunch in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. When I returned to Italy we met for an interview and the rest is history.

It’s very fulfilling to offer our clients the best service and help them get to where they are needed most. I love finding the best fare for clients and especially for complicated itineraries.

I’m still quite new to humanitarian travel so I think my colleagues have better tips than I do. Luckily they always give me good tips! I work with some great colleagues and we have an excellent relationship. From the moment I joined Raptim I felt as part of the team.

If I have to choose it will be definitely be Nairobi. I think that it is one of the gateways to Africa. I would love to see how the office works and also I would like to visit the missions where our customers offer their help.

Doing my part in helping those who need it most.

There are so many to mention. I work with so many inspiring people. But if I have to choose I would have to say Sr. Michelle of the Missionaries of Charity, a religious congregation established by Mother Teresa. She is in charge of reservations for the whole congregation. The first time I met her she left a lasting impression on me. I really appreciate the work the congregation does, helping those in poverty.

There are a various challenging situations in my work, and I think that the best way to solve them is to keep calm, understand the situation and try to solve it as best I can.

There isn’t just one experience. My daily work at Raptim makes me proud. Helping people that dedicate their lives to helping others. It’s great to be part of this.
