In the ‘A Closer Look’ series, we highlight organizations which put high value on aid and the development of vulnerable locations globally. In this episode, we’re highlighting The International Organization for Migration (IOM). This compassionate intergovernmental organization has been helping migrants since 1951 to date.
Today, one in every seven people is a migrant – be it a refugee, a student, a migrant worker or a professional who moves between international postings. The International Organization for Migration works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners to work towards a humane and orderly migration. By providing services and advice to governments and migrants, IOM works to understand migration issues better and promote international cooperation in the entire process. They assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems and provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced persons.
